BEIJING -- Vice President Xi Jinping on Thursday urged the Chinese people to read more literature on the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Xi, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, made the remarks at a symposium for the publication of a selection of the CPC's important literature (1921-1949).
Xi said the published material could help readers understand why the Chinese people chose the Party and socialism.
The selection, which records the CPC's historic literature from the Party's foundation in 1921 to the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, was published by the CPC Central Committee's Party Literature Research Office.
